White-tailed Kite

This morning, on our way home from JFK after a red-eye from Arizona, Glenn, Phil and I stopped at Stratford to see the kite. Our first stop was at the end of Sniffens Lane, where the outer portion of Milford Point can be scoped. It only took a few seconds of scoping to locate the kite teed up on a cedar tree. We enjoyed distant scope views for a while before heading home to get some sleep.

A great-looking bird and a mega rarity, but it certainly felt anti-climactic after an amazing week birding southeast Arizona!
